Facelift

Offered at our convenient location in London

As we age, the delicate skin of our face becomes droopy and deep creases will begin to form. Botox and dermal fillers can help improve and slow down these imperfections but will not provide a comprehensive improvement like a facelift. A facelift pulls back the skin and removes unnecessary tissue that causes wrinkles and lines. The result is truly dramatic!

A facelift, when masterfully completed by Dr. Grant Hamlet, will leave you looking years younger!

About Facelift Surgery

Facelift surgery, also referred to as rhytidectomy, is a very popular procedure for both men and women. Frequently performed on women, facelift for men is a growing surgical procedure to truly improve masculine features and restore defined facial characteristics.

Facelift surgeries involve incisions along the hairline and around the ears. The exact incisions used will vary based on your anatomical features and desired outcome. Through these incisions, the skin and underlying muscles will be tightened to help improve the appearance of your face.

Common incisions used in the procedure include:

Traditional facelift

The degree of change desired will influence the length and number of incisions. All cuts will be hidden in the hairline so as to produce a seamless transformation. Traditional facelifts have an incision made along the temples, around the ears, and ends at the lower scalp. Another incision can be made under the chin to help improve the appearance of the neck as well and reduce submental fullness (fatty development under the chin).

Limited incision

This incision is often used in mini facelifts. Mini facelifts are for men and women who wish to improve minimal wrinkling and sagging skin. A short incision is made at the temple and ends towards the bottom of the ear.

Neck Lift

Neck lifts are commonly performed alongside a facelift and will dramatically improve the way you look! Neck lifts improve the appearance of undefined jowls, wiggly neck skin, and submental fatness. An incision is made around the ear and ends in the hairline behind it. Through this incisions, Dr. Hamlet will be able to smooth out your skin and make you look younger!

Procedure

The facelift procedure may take about four hours to complete but will vary based on the specifics of your plan

You will change into a gown and the medical team will great you. Your face will be cleaned and incision placement marked out. General anesthesia will be applied and once you are resting, Dr. Hamlet will begin the surgery. Incisions will be made in the predetermined areas. Through these incisions, Dr. Hamlet will remove excess skin and tissue. The remaining skin and underlying muscles will be strategically tightened to produce natural smooth contours in the face and neck.

Once completed, the incisions will be closed and bandaged.

Recovery

Following the surgery, your face will be swollen and sore. Pain medication will help reduce any discomfort and will help you rest. The first few days after the surgery, your eyes may be swollen, an ice pack will help reduce that swelling.

Small tubes may be placed under incisions to help remove unnecessary fluids. Dr. Hamlet and his staff will teach you how to empty the receptacles the tubes are attached to. These drains are often removed within a couple of days.

At your follow-up appointments, Dr. Hamlet will ensure you are healing well and will clean and re-bandage incision sites. Stitches will be removed after a few days and Dr. Hamlet will inform you when you can return to common activities.

Facelift Results

You will immediately notice an improvement in your appearance. These results will only get better as swelling reduces and your face adjusts to its new shape. The best way to maintain your results will be to eat healthily, exercise, and keep a consistent weight.

Your final results will set in after a few months, but you should be able to return to work after seven to ten days.

If you have a physically demanding job, your recovery time will be longer.
