Brazilian Butt Lift

A Brazilian butt lift (BBL) is a surgical procedure that enhances the curves and volume of the buttocks. BBL surgeries have taken the cosmetic surgery industry by storm in recent years. With influencers and celebrities displaying their own remarkable BBL results, more people worldwide are seeking their own boosted butts.

Dr Grant Hamlet and his team at Dr. Grant Hamlet have helped hundreds of men and women lift their butts through a simple surgical procedure. After a recovery period, clothes fit better and the bottom half of your hourglass figure is well-defined. The first step is to schedule a consultation at our London offices. You can do so by filling out this online contact form or calling us at 0207 127 4377.

What Is The Ideal Butt?

The BBL has gained worldwide attention from social media influencers and pop culture celebrities, with A-listers documenting their results in real-time. But what makes this look so desirable?

Noticeably curvy backsides have always been in vogue. Researchers and scientists that have selflessly dedicated their work to exploring what makes “the ideal butt” have found it’s not just the volume and shape of the buttocks that are important. Equally if not more important is how the total circumference of the hips relates to the circumference of the waist. According to these hard-working researchers, the magic ratio for waist to hips is 0.7.[1] That is, the waist is 30% smaller than the hips. While hours of pilates and a stringent diet can help, many aspiring to these dimensions are working against their own genetics, and unable to achieve this ratio.

While everyone is different, there are four common shapes of butts. These shapes are largely determined by genetics but can be altered slightly through diet and exercise.

  • V-Shape: a wide waist and narrow hips.
  • Square: hips and waist are flush, creating no separation or curve.
  • Round: hips are slightly wider than the waist, creating a noticeable curve and definition in the butt’s natural shape.
  • Upside-Down Heart: the waist-to-hip ratio is equal to or less than 0.7. This shape includes two teardrop-shaped cheeks that meet in the middle to create an upside-down heart. This shape, researchers found, is deemed the most attractive.

What Is Buttocks Augmentation?

When deciding to undergo a procedure to enhance your butt, you can decide between a BBL or gluteal implants. Like all other areas of your body, the layers of gluteal tissue include skin, fat, and muscle. Fat responds naturally as we lose or gain weight, keeping our appearance even all around. Gluteal implants are placed on the muscle below the layer of subcutaneous fat. These synthetic implants don’t respond to changes in diet or exercise, unlike the rest of the body. So, patients are left with a butt that’s one size for years to come. If weight is lost or gained after the procedure, the waist-to-hip ratio can change in a way that leaves unnatural proportions. In a study that surveyed gluteal implant patients about their postoperative happiness, most of them said that implants didn’t allow for customization and resulted in underwhelming effects.[2]

Why A BBL?

Unlike gluteal implants, a BBL takes fat from one area of your body and relocates it to the buttocks. This is a crucial advantage for those looking to achieve more attractive proportions between their waist, thighs and buttocks. To begin a BBL procedure, Dr Hamlet liposuctions areas of unwanted, excess fat. Liposuction is a popular fat reduction procedure that suctions out fatty tissue, and Dr Hamlet is a leading authority on VASER Liposuction. VASER and VASER Hi-Def liposuction offer many advantages over traditional liposuction, including better skin retraction and the ability to precisely sculpt the treatment area. Donor fat for a Brazilian Butt Lift is frequently harvested from:

  • Legs
  • Abdomen
  • Waist
  • Love handles
  • Chest
  • Arms
  • Bra strap or banana roll

After extracting the appropriate amount of fat, he closes the minor incision and readies the harvested fat tissue for relocation. Then, he injects the fat cells between the skin and muscle, augmenting your existing stores of fat in order to create enhanced curvature. This ensures smooth, even, and lifted results. Because organic tissue is used, you don’t have to worry about allergic reactions, or having to replace silicone implants in the future. Also, this is your body’s natural fat, so when you change your diet and activity levels, the shape of the buttocks responds in turn.

Reduce Unwanted Fat

Most patients’ aesthetic desires don’t stop at a bigger bum. Most patients have other aesthetic concerns that diet and exercise are doing little to fix. The most common of these problems is unwanted, excess fatty tissue. During a BBL, Dr Hamlet actually uses these troublesome areas as donor areas for usable fatty tissue. He sculpts away this hard-to-lose fat and uses it to give your butt its boost. So, a BBL not only gives you a lifted behind, but also minimizes many unwanted curves all around your physique.

Is a Brazilian Butt Lift Right For Me?

The first step in answering this question is to schedule a consultation at our offices on View Road. Here, we will give you a personal assessment. Generally, we ask that patients be at a healthy weight before their procedure. It is general surgery, so you will have to be healthy enough to go under anaesthesia. Those who smoke or have interfering comorbidities may benefit from a non-surgical approach.

Personal Consultation

At your consultation, Dr Hamlet will examine your fatty areas, note your skin’s laxity, and inspect your backside. He will determine if a BBL is right for you and identify potential donor sites. Patients who do not have adequate fatty tissue may need to gain a couple of pounds before their procedure. At the end of your consultation, he will have a personalized treatment plan tailored to your surgical goals and aesthetic desires.

Before A BBL

To prepare for your BBL, it is important to:

  • Avoid blood-thinning medications as these can cause excessive bleeding during your procedure.
  • Don’t drink alcohol or consume nicotine before your procedure. If you use nicotine products, you will need to quit several months prior to your operation. These substances interfere with the body’s natural healing response and can prolong or derail your recovery.
  • Designate a caregiver to drive you home following your procedure.
  • Ready your home. You will not be able to sit or lay down on your backside for several weeks, so you’ll need to prepare your living spaces accordingly.

After-Care

At the end of your procedure, Dr Hamlet wraps your waist and butt in a compression garment. This will apply pressure on the altered areas and help enhance the body’s healing response. He’ll also wrap any other liposuction areas to alleviate swelling. Over the next couple of weeks, don’t lift anything heavy or participate in strenuous activities. Most importantly, do not lie on your back or sit on your butt. This can cause complications with the relocated fat. At your follow up appointments, we will note where you are in the recovery process and if any next steps are needed.

Results

Throughout your recovery, you may notice your new curves solidifying. Once you’ve healed, and any residual swelling has resolved, you’ll be able to remove the compression garment and  see your final results. Clothes will be more form-fitting and your silhouette will have more pronounced curves. Your rounder, fuller, perkier bum will be ready for its debut!

Other Uses of Fat Transfer

Fat transfer not only helps men and women get bigger, shapelier behinds, but it also improves the appearance of many different cosmetic concerns. Fat transfer achieves results with organic tissue, so patients don’t have to worry about allergic reactions. Additionally, fat contains crucial regenerative properties that help boost tissue health and rejuvenate the recipient area. The fat transfer procedures Dr Hamlet has perfected include:

Facial Fillers

To treat wrinkles and volume loss, many turn to dermal fillers. A safer, long-term alternative is a facial fat transfer. In this procedure, Dr Hamlet relocates your fat to areas around your face like under your eyes or around your cheekbones to restore volume and imbue a more youthful appearance.

Hand Rejuvenation

With age, the epidermis loses its thickness. This thinning of tissue causes underlying structures to become more noticeable. One area where this is especially true is the back of your hand. Ligaments, veins, tendons, and bones comprise your hands’ intricate inner structure. When the skin thins, these structures can make your hands look veiny, rough, and aged. To correct this, Dr Hamlet uses fat transfer to add a thin layer of fat between the skin and the internal structures. This simple fix gives your hands a smooth, youthful appearance.

Breast Augmentation & Reconstruction

Breast augmentation is typically done with silicone implants. But much like with gluteal implants, some patients want a more natural approach. By using your own fatty tissue, Dr Hamlet can help you go up in cup size and reshape your breasts to your desired appearance. For those who have undergone a single or double mastectomy, Dr Hamlet can use a fat transfer to rebuild volume in your breasts.

Calf Augmentation

Dr Hamlet uses fat transfer to round out more fullness in calves that seem too small. He can add these procedures to your personalized treatment plan and perform some in tandem with your BBL. Be sure to ask during your consultation.

How Much Does A Brazilian Butt Lift Cost in London?

The cost of a BBL depends on a couple of factors, including the areas being liposuction, and the amount of fat being transferred. We will discuss and determine the cost of your care during your consultation. If you would like to reach us directly, please call us at 0207 127 4377.
