Every time we smile, laugh, or frown, the facial muscles contract, creating small grooves beneath the skin’s surface. In younger skin, abundant collagen and elasticity allow these lines to disappear quickly. As we age, however, collagen levels decline, skin loses its resilience, and these grooves become visible as fine lines and wrinkles.
Our wrinkle treatment uses a highly diluted form of botulinum toxin to gently relax targeted facial muscles, preventing them from contracting. The Injection Process
Before your breast implant removal surgery, Dr. Hamlet may ask you to do the following:
- Stop smoking.
- Get a medical evaluation and lab testing.
- Cease taking aspirin, anti-inflammatory meds, herbal supplements, or other medications that have the potential to increase bleeding.
The doctor and his medical technicians will begin by filling a special syringe with the proper dosage for the requested results. Next, he will locate the exact areas on the face that will be treated. Once the target areas are located, Dr. Hamlet will use a very fine needle to inject directly into the underlying facial muscle.
It is not uncommon for multiple areas on the face to be treated during this appointment. The treatment itself lasts about 10-15 minutes in its entirety, making it an effective and efficient skin rejuvenating procedure that can be done during a lunch break or in between running errands.
Although this treatment is not painful, patients can opt for a topical anesthetic. The numbing cream will need to be applied about 20 minutes prior to receiving the injections and will help reduce any discomfort that he or she may feel. Recovery
Recovery from any procedure depends on the duration and extent of the surgery and the health of the patient. Be sure to ask Dr. Hamlet any questions regarding post-op procedures, dressings/bandages, stitches, medications, follow-up care, and when you can resume normal activities. He’ll be happy to make sure that you have all the information you need.
Directly following the treatment, patients may experience redness, swelling, or mild bruising, if any, at the injection site(s). These symptoms will all subside within a couple of days. Dr. Hamlet asks all patients to refrain from physical activity for a couple of days following the injections. Daily activities can be resumed to immediately; there is absolutely no downtime for our treatments.
Within a week, patients will notice that their fine lines and wrinkles have softened. In order to maintain these results, patients should come in for injections about every 3 months.

Where Can I Be Injected?
The most common areas where our treatment is injected are the forehead lines, frown lines, crow’s feet, and lines that tend to form under the mouth (most commonly found in patients who are smokers.) This treatment has been found very effective in providing assistance in minimizing the imperfections in these areas and work to sustain a more youthful appearance.
Our treatment can also be injected in the underarms to help prevent hyperhidrosis. This will “tell” the nerve signals causing the sweating to slow down production. Additionally, it is often used to lessen the appearance of a ‘gummy smile’; this is when the gum-to-tooth ratio is too close. This is countered with injections into the muscles behind the upper lip. The solution will relax the upper lip, allowing it to cover more gum tissue and produce a more ‘natural’ smile.
