Lip Enhancement With Fillers

Lip enhancement with dermal fillers can enhance a key facial feature important to an overall beautiful visage. Juvéderm Volbella XC is a hyaluronic acid dermal filler specifically designed to plump the lips and define the lip border. It can also smooth thin lines of the perioral area.

Introduction to Lip Enhancement with Fillers

Lip enhancement with fillers is a popular treatment for those who want fuller, more defined, yet natural-looking lips. At our clinic, we use Juvéderm Volbella XC, which is formulated with advanced patented Vycross technology. This technique cross-links high and low molecular-weight hyaluronic acid to create a gel with excellent lift, higher viscosity, and longer-lasting results [1]. The filler is smooth, easy to inject, and moulds naturally to the lips, enhancing their shape and contour while maintaining a soft, natural appearance [2].

About the Aging Lip

Collagen and elastin are essential components of a youthful appearance. With age, the natural loss of elastin and collagen creates volume loss and skin laxity. Elastin is responsible for skin’s ability to “snap back,” while collagen is responsible for structural support. The ideal lips have been described as having fullness with a defined border. [3] Unfortunately, lips are not exempt from the aforementioned effects of aging. The less volume the lips have and the more they droop, the more it can age the face.

Hyaluronic acid, found naturally in our bodies, has many responsibilities. Hyaluronic acid regulates the growth of cells, increases cell hydration, supports tissue structures, and promotes collagen retention. All of these acts contribute to the benefits of reintroducing hyaluronic acid into the lips. [4] Results of lip enhancement with Juvéderm Volbella XC are immediate due to the gel, and the hyaluronic acid with Vycross technology creates long-lasting results on a cellular level. After Juvéderm Volbella XC lip enhancement treatment, lips will be plump, supple, hydrated, and compliment your overall appearance.

Be sure to ask Dr. Hamlet any questions regarding post-op procedures, dressings/bandages, stitches, medications, follow-up care, and when you can resume normal activities. He’ll be happy to make sure that you have all the information you need.

Dermal fillers do not require downtime daily routine can be resumed immediately after injection. Rigorous activity should however be avoided for the rest of the day. This will be discussed during your consultation. Minor bruising or swelling may be present right after treatment but these effects quickly resolve on their own.

Results

A study reported that over 96% of the subjects who received Juvéderm Volbella XC lip injections were satisfied with the treatment results!

Results are seen immediately but it can take a couple of weeks for the final results to be enjoyed. Juvéderm Volbella XC lasts up to one year, with some patients enjoying their lip augmentation longer. The length of results varies on each patient’s metabolizing rate and how quickly it will absorb the hyaluronic acid. To maintain your beautiful results, routine treatments are possible, and encouraged. If for any reason you wish to no longer have lip fillers, they can easily be dissolved with an additional injection.

Corresponding & Complementary Procedures

Dr. Grant Hamlet also offers Juvéderm Voluma XC and Sculptra for temporary enhancement of other areas of the face. Juvéderm Voluma XC is FDA-approved for chin augmentation and cheek augmentation. It generally lasts between one to two years. Again, Juvéderm is a hyaluronic acid-based filler so results will last until your body naturally absorbs it.

Sculptra is a poly-l-lactic acid that smooths smile lines, laugh lines, and chin wrinkles. Some off-label uses include the hands and cheeks. Sculptra smooths the treatment areas with the initial injection of the poly-l-lactic gel, but the results are long-lasting because it also stimulates the production of collagen. With several treatments, collagen creation allows you to maintain the results through your body’s natural efforts.

FAQs

Does Juvéderm offer other types of dermal fillers?

Juvéderm is a family of hyaluronic acid fillers that treat different cosmetic concerns. At Dr. Grant Hamlet, we offer Juvéderm Volbella XC for lip enhancement and Juvéderm Voluma XC for chin and cheek augmentation. Both provide immediate volumizing results with results being elongated by collagen production stimulated by the reintroduction of hyaluronic acid.

No, Juvéderm Volbella XC provides temporary lip enhancement. On average, a single treatment will provide results for up to one year, with some patients experiencing longer-lasting results. It is possible to have long-lasting results with routine injections. We are happy to discuss this with you during a consultation.

No, dermal fillers and Botox are not the same. They are both wrinkle-smoothing injectable treatments, but the methods by which each accomplishes this are different. Also, dermal fillers can be used to augment and plump certain areas like the lips; Botox cannot add volume. Dermal fillers fill in deep wrinkles caused by repetitive movement of underlying muscles responsible for facial expressions. Botox is used to stop these deep wrinkles from being created by temporarily paralyzing the expression-creating muscles. Botox can smooth fine lines and wrinkles that appear when you make expressions, but it cannot treat wrinkles that are visible when you are not making expressions.

Pricing

Each surgical procedure requires unique care and attention, meaning that the cost for every surgery is individually determined. Dr. Grant Hamlet’s clinic offers various payment options to help manage the financial aspect. Their expert team is available to discuss these options and opportunities, aiming to ensure that cost does not hinder your access to quality healthcare.
